Community outreach is integral to BSA’s mission. We strive to make professional quality ballet performances accessible to the entire San Antonio community.
Learning That Moves You (LTMY)
BSA’s primary outreach aimed at San Antonio’s schoolchildren, is comprised of two programs:
In-school Lecture/Demonstration
BSA brings dancers into elementary and middle schools to perform, share their stories, and answer students’ questions while emphasizing themes of discipline, self-esteem, and perseverance. During the 2009-2010 season, BSA will offer in-school lecture/demonstrations from January 18, 2010 through March 17, 2010 and March 31, 2010 through May 7, 2010. For more information on bringing BSA to your school, please contact the office.
Student Performances
Ballet San Antonio presents a special one-hour abridged version of The Nutcracker at a discounted rates for San Antonio elementary and middle school students. BSA has reached over 100,000 children through these performances, which began in 1989.
